Stain Removal Guide

Remove Cake Frosting by following these steps:

  1. Sponge with Drycleaning Solvent.
  2. Sponge with Dry Spotter.
  3. Keep stain moist and blot occasionally with Absorbent Material.
  4. Continue as long as stain is being removed.
  5. Flush with Drycleaning Solvent.
  6. Repeat above steps untill no more stain is removed.
  7. Allow to dry completely.
  8. Sponge with water.
  9. Apply a few drops of detergent and a few drops of Ammonia and Sponge.
  10. Keep stain moist and blot occasionally with Absorbent Material.
  11. Flush with water to remove all Ammonia.
  12. Soak in Enzyme Solution for 30 minutes.
  13. Rinse with water.
Sponge

Be sure to test sponges on the stain removers you will be using to be sure they can withstaand the chemicals.

Drycleaning Solvent

  • Dry cleaning solvent is sold at variety stores, hardware stores, grocery stores.
  • Observe all precautions on the label.


Dry Spotter

  • To prepare dry spotter, mix one part coconut oil and 8 parts drycleaning solvent.
  • To store, cap container well to prevent evaporation.
  • Mineral oil may be substiture for coconut oil in the same proportion.
  • Observe all precautions on labels.


Absorbent Material

Good absorbent materials include
  • cotton
  • white paper towels
  • white facial towels
  • white cotton cloths
Be sure to test sponges on the stain removers you will be using to be sure they can withstaand the chemicals.

Ammonia

  • Use household ammonia diluted 1:1 with water.
  • Do not use ammonia with colors or fragrances.
  • Ammonia changes the color of some dyes.
  • To restore color, rinse thoroughly with water and apply a few drops of white vinegar.
  • Rinse well with water again.
  • Observe all precautions on the label.


Enzyme Solution

  • Mix one quart warm water with 1 tablespoon enzyme presoak.
  • Enzyme becomes inactive if stored in solution.
