What is the Difference Between an Oriental Rug and an Oriental Carpet?

The words "rug" and "carpet" are commonly used interchangeably.  Typically in the industry, an "Oriental Rug" refers to smaller pieces measuring under 5'x8' in size.  "oriental carpet" refers to an item measuring over 5'x8'.
