What Products Can I Use to Protect my Rug From Stains?

We do not recommend any one single product for use in removing stains or odors.  It is important to remember, prior to administering of product, to test your rug for color fastness.  Be extremely cautious especially if you have a tea washed or herbal washed carpet.  If you would like instructions on how to remove a stain, take a look at our Stain Removal Guide for more information.

The best place for testing is in one or several small areas (need to test all colors) on the front of the rug in a inconspicuous area.  Testing on the back may not give accurate results as the knots are tightly pulled, and may not react the same as the looser tips of the wool on the face.  Do remember, that testing for color fastness does not provide long term promises.  That is to say, application of a chemical may not show any short term harm, however, long term exposure may show more rapid degradation of color / fading or oxidation due to exposure to UV and environmental factors.  It is highly suggested you limit the types of products you use unless specifically informed by your local retailer as being "safe".
