Featrued on page 26 of The Metropolitan Museum Store's Spring 2009 catalog is the "Art of Time" Collection. As the name implies, these watches are the result of the marriage between fine jewelry and fine art. Needless to say, our favorite is the "Mughal Carpet." Here the Met describes their inspiration for this piece: "India's Mughal Empire (1526-1858) nurtured great artistic achievements, including lavish textiles and carpets of silk, velvet, and gold threads. One such carpet from the Capital Museum's Islamic collection is this watch's design source."
Mughal Carpet Watch 80-002805
Unfortunately, according to the website, the watch is not yet in stock. However, you can pre-order; Non-Member price is $65.00 (for members $58.50)
This is the second wearable Carpet we've come across this week. Earlier, it was cufflinks, now it's a watch. What next?
