To the right is Aaron Lewis, vocalist for the band staind. Later this spring in 2009, it is said that Lewis will begin recording his first solo album.
Lewis is seated on what appears to be a staircase covered with an oriental Design Carpet.
While it's not impossible to install hand knotted rugs on stairs, it's more likely that this is a machine made piece. Also worth mentioning is the width of this carpet: most standard runners sizes seem to be 24", 26"-27", 33"-34". However, even at the top steps, the border is not yet visible. this implies one of two things, a very wide runner (known as a gallery runner) or an area rug as been tacked down.
Machine made carpets are often the "stair carpet of choice" due to their inexpensive nature: A rug on any stair will wear unevenly, which significantly affects the value, especially for a true hand knotted Oriental. The design is probably what most would call a "kashan" design, with an allover pattern and ivory field.
The powerloomer Central Oriental, has a very
similar (Keep in mind the lighting in Lewis's
photo op has a warm cast) pattern in their "Traditions" collection as seen to the left. These
are durable rugs at a great price: $400 for approx a 5'3"x7'7", basically a great size for under a living room table. Click the image on the left to purchase with Shop.com/see most recent pricing and sizes available
His newest video "All I Want" is set to air Friday December 12, 2009 at 3:00 PST. Look carefully for the rug under the drumset!
