Both ebay and Craigslist are excellent ways to get exposure when selling rugs. Here are the tips and tricks from our experience:
1. Before anything, find out if the rug/carpet is hand knotted, hand tufted or machine made. If you are having problems determining, take the rug to our Oriental Rug Forum.
2. Be sure you list using proper keyword spelled correctly for your sale: Try using Google Keyword Tool to see most popular spellings.
3. Take advantage of Rug Rag Verifications!

Suggestions for Private Sellers:
For used machine made Rugs: If your rug is not wool, or is a not a well known brand such as Wilton, karastan, etc. opt for Craigslist
If you are looking for quick sale, opt for eBay
If you don't like visitors inspecting your rug in home, opt for eBay
If you want Free listing, opt for Craigslist
If you don't care to ship the item, opt for Craigslist
If want high exposure, go with eBay NR
If your rug is an oriental or Persian Carpet, Have it Verified!
