As you guessed, painting on canvas is certainly not a new thing. However, neither is using a painted canvas floorcovering! Here's an authentic "painted canvas floorcovering."
Below is a sample of Momeni's New Wave Collection 58, neither canvas, nor paint, however said to be inspired by Pollock's work. Don't expect to find cigarette butts in this rug...
