Nope, your monitor is not on the fritz! If it were a statment on machine made rugs, the streaks may be going the opposite design. But they're not. It's a design by Richard Hutten called "Download Rug" in the concept of "playing with tradition." Very interesting visually, although we were unable to find anything to allude this is other than a one-off piece for installation.
The top 1/5 is what similar to what is sometimes called a "Mahi tabriz" design. A few months back we did an entry on similar rugs in the hand made variety & without the streaks.
