The Mondo rug by Lorenzo Damiani is an interesting fusion of classic Persian design and modern rug design. The rug features an abstract design of the world, with the seven continents made up of a classic Perisan design (similar to Naeen) and the ocean comprised of a simple blue field. This carpet measures 9'8" x 13'1"and was one of the winners of the Elle Deco International Design Award for 2009. We think the blending of modern and classic design is executed perfectly and the open space works very well for this piece. The idea of fusing two styles together is one that, when done properly, creates a fantastic work of art.
