The carpet took about two years to weave with upwards of 1,200 weavers working around the clock. Made in nine different sections, the entire rug pieced together amounts to over 2.2 billion knots and total usage of 75,000 pounds of wool and cotton. This translates to an Oriental Rug masterpiece which covers over 60,546 square feet! That is over 1100 times the size of the average 6x9 rug! The rug was woven for the Sheikh Zayed mosque located in the United Arab Emirates. Click the links below for more information and pictures!
