LOT 11259 Mohtashem Kashan rug

THIRD FLOOR GALLERY

LOT 11259 Mohtashem Kashan rug.

CENTRAL PERSIA, CIRCA LATE 19TH CENTURY.  6 ft. 10 in. x 4 ft. 8 in.

Estimate: $5,000-7,000

SOLD: $4,750 + 25% Buyers Premium.

Freeman's Comments:  Rug has some areas with wear, including in parts of center medallion, some of borders (mostly at one end) and some of field. There are areas of rug that have full pile. Ends and single cord selvages are generally intact. We note a spot of color run with part of field and approximately 1 in. long repair to part of outer edge of rug near one corner. There are leather strips woven into each side on reverse to insure rug lies flat.
