We always appreciate wit here at Rug Rag, and this cruelty-free 'animal rug' by Jon Male is ingenius. The faux animal rug is simply a Persian rug in the shape of animal, sparing the animals life and sprucing up your floor in one shot. According to Male "Every designer flat has one of those cowhide rugs now. And the animal thing's a bit wrong." Apparently he was in his parents attic one day and found an old Persian rug that he wanted to give a different feel to. The designer will be working in conjunction with Rimo Designs based out of Manchester, UK. Rimo has an excellent track record of social awareness, as they are against using child-labor and they have also helped to set up schools in the local villages of Kathmandu. We applaud both the ingenuity of this rug and the environmental as well as social aspects that are being brought to light by not using animal hides.
