Among some of the more unusual places to have found rugs LA: Sony Pictures, Ford's Filling Station, and the Hollywood walk of fame.
The tour through Sony Pictures was a big surprise. Although photographs were not allowed in the area we found the most oriental rugs, the sound studio had serious rug fever. The computer at the main sound control desk had an Oriental rug mouse pad, and the floor featured a Persian design hand tufted carpet.
After touring Sony Pictures, we went for a bite to eat at Ford's Filling station on Culver Blvd. Seen below is one of several Oriental rugs they had on the floor. This particular piece appeared to have been a semi-antique heriz/Serapi design.
Next stop was the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The photographs above and below are probably among the more familiar for which would be recognized by most.
Despite the familiar stars seen in the two photographs above, we were shocked to see these two rugs below just feet away from the Hollywood Stars.
Above and below: Two ornate carpet carvings just a few feet from the walk of fame, one overlapping the other. It's a little difficult to make out, but the top carpet has a tree-of-life type design motif.
