Counterfeit Carpets in China

Recently China has been trying to stop the flow of Uighur Muslim separatists from leaving Xinjiang in the northwestern part of the country. As a result of this attempt, trade flow between China and it's neighbor pakistan has come to a slow down. However, in one area this is being viewed as a good thing. The rug industry in pakistan seems to be happy with the stoppage of imported carpets from China, and the main reason is due to cheap knockoff's. This is a problem to the rug dealers in pakistan, where people are coming in thinking they had purchased authentic carpets but instead have cheap copies. These copies often sell for between a third and half the price of the real thing. Many stores in the area keep the Chinese copies in a different section so that customers know what they are looking at.
