We've caught Dave Chappelle on a few rugs in the past few years. One
of the first we saw him on was a traditional kashan design carpet,
sometimes referred to as an Ardekan. These are rugs which were hand
knotted in Iran, often featuring a medallion with covered eslimis on a red field with a dark blue border. They're among the more affordable Persian Rugs,
as they were highly commercialized through the 60's up until recently.
These rugs often measure in the vicinty of 100-120 KPSI, and depending
upon condition can be found for as little as $200
for a 9' x 12', up to $2,000. ardekan rugs have a decent track record
on TV & movies. One of the more recognizable rugs was that which
was found by Jeffrey Lebowski.
Although the rug shown below does not appear to be the traditional Persian Ardekan
we're familiar with Chappelle usually having under his feet, it still very well could be. We wonder if Chappelle is trying to keep the flow of electricity down like Greg Lake, or that the colors match his set perfectly? Hey you never know!
