Ardekan oriental rugs* are among the more commercialized Oriental Rugs
woven in Iran. Perhaps the reason for such has largely to do with both
their affordability, as well as their congruence to age old traditional
and classic Persian Designs such as kashan medallion rugs. Ardekan
rugs are commonly found to have around 120 kpsi, feature Kashan
medallion designs, have traditional red, blue and ivory colors, and be
sheered fairly thin. ardekan rugs are most often made of a medium
grade wool.
In the late 1990's, the movie The Big Lebowski (see Rug Rag post!)
featured an Ardekan rug in several scenes. Investment level for such
rugs is fairly low, and sometimes other key terms which may be
associated with these rugs (while not necessarily accurate) include,
but are not limited to "mashad" or "Kashan" designs.
