Abadeh Oriental Rugs and carpets are often found in sizes measuring smaller than 7x10, although larger sizes are produced in less volume. Abadeh rugs often feature bold colors, often with a red background, black or dark blue border, and ivory throughout. They commonly feature a medallion centered in the middle of the rug, and spandrels covering the each corner of the field with a gul woven into each. Abadeh are often woven with nice quality, durable wool, dense to the handle, medium to higher knot count. Abadeh rugs do not "drape" as much as other Persian rugs, as construction is very tight and fairly rigid. Commonly, Abadeh Oriental Rugs are created with a wool pile on a cotton foundation. Often found in the field are cypress trees woven in the center under and above the center medallion, along with scattered small geometric flowers.
