Three commonly found rugs seen throught the rooms of this victorian style home offered as the HGTV 2009 home giveaway.
Off from the foyer on the first floor, there are three rooms: a small living room, a dining room and a family room.
In the first room, the carpet that appears on the floor seems closely related to designs seen in Peking rugs from near or around the turn of 1900. Some of these rugs have been recreated as "revival" pieces, still made in China, and in some cases, also available in machine made versions as well at a lower price point. Classic example of a great rug to have in a high traffic area. Although not particularly easy to decipher from this photograph, the carpet on the floor is actually a sisal rug, which has been seen in celebrity homes such as Simon Cowell, and Chuck Liddell to name a few. These rugs are well known for their long lasting durability, ease of cleaning, "organic" nature, and modern look. Sisal rugs can be found at very low investment ranges. The dining room table apparently seats ten, so going by this size, the rug should be at least a 8'x10' piece. Often, these rugs are finished in a nice thick black color binding which sometimes is hand sewn. Really attractive rugs which are very much affordable. Check out Sisal Rugs on eBay...
Lastly, featured at the 46 second mark is a white Flokati Shag Area Rug featured in the family room centered in front of the fireplace. Very thick and plush carpets with long fiber. Great for insulation, and certainly a warmth to have on the floor. Thick plush rugs are and have been back in style thanks to Flokati area rugs! They're seen in celebrity homes all the time, and even commonly make it onto TV such as the case with the Pokerstars Commercial not too long ago.
