Wool pile with what appears to be a full goat hair, or wool and goat hair blended foundation. The foundation is comprised of 3 main colors, a black, grey and white hair which is significantly longer and straighter than wool would normally appear.

Signed date in corner of the field translates to the calendar year 1347 (Persian Date), or roughly 1968 A.D. (Julian date)

Expert Notes


Hand Knotted Gabbeh runner/rug. Wool pile may be "as natural," or un-dyed. Foundation is comprised of longer, straighter fiber, which may be goat hair and/or goat hair blended. The design features an open field with four major Guls and five minor Guls. 2 ply yarn, with slight offset to knots. Signed "Mohmammadine" and Dated 1347 (we believe this is a Persian Date), which may place this rug at or around 1968 A.D. (Julian Calendar date) Seller States the Following: "The only condition issue is a 3" area in the flat weave selvedge. This end piece has been unbound (see pictures) and there is a slight unraveling of the selvedge end about 2 1/2" from the pile weaving ends."
